This winter we are enlarging the natural grotto under La Terre d’Or.
On Saturday, December 19th, 2009: after a few days to install some reinforced planking and prepare everything, it’s the big day at La Terre d’Or: we begin digging in the natural cave, under the house! The small backhoe and 2 motorized wheelbarrows are brought into the cave from the garden: the tunnel is barely large enough. It all just passes by the narrow tunnel. Jean-Louis, Vincent and Nicolas, helped by friends, begin to extract more than 300 m3 of earth and stones of the cave—without touching the immense stone ceiling, of course! The earth is evacuated by the motorized wheelbarrows, which cross the 9 m length reinforced planking near the swimming pool, to dump the excavated earth onto the street below. A backhoe loads the excavated earth into a dump truck for removal.
Objective: to enlarge the existing cave and surprise you when you next come back. Indeed, aperitifs and tastings will take place in a new cellar, fitted out with stone walls. Bottles of vintage wines of Burgundy neatly lined up and oak barrels will complete the setting. The big novelty is in the first room of the cave: a well-being area with spa! Completely relaxed by water jets and bubbles, you will look at the play of the lights on the immense stone ceiling, the stalactites and the stalagmites. The music will transport you to a universe of relaxation and peace with an impression of eternity.
