Jean-Louis & Christine, my parents, transformed the family home into a luxury B&B in 1999 and later added the 2 charming holiday cottages Les Pins and Les Lilas. My father, instead of accepting a promotion in an international company which meant moving to Paris, chose to lead a project that meant a lot for him: welcoming guests from all over the world and helping them to discover Burgundy. I joined my parents in 2010 to take over, and then in 2016 Fabrizio joined me to support me, we work together helped by a small team happy to welcome you with traditional Burgundian hospitality. My parents are still quite involved in the B&B and very happy to share with our guests their experience of Burgundy.
Christine, my mother, will introduce herself as the gardener but believe me she is much more: she is the very soul of La Terre d’Or.
Discreet and effective, she has been taking great care of this multi-level organic garden for 25 years. She improves it constantly to bring you harmony, diversity and amazing scents of flowers. Christine and my sister Sandrine who is an Interior Architect in Lyon, created the atmosphere of La Terre D’Or, by favoring quality, authenticity and simplicity in each room.
My father Jean-Louis, born in Beaune, has a passion for old stones and masonry work.
He built by himself, using traditional techniques, all the stone walls in the gardens and in the grotto. He also did all the terraces, the bathrooms… Since his official ‘retirement’, my father has been keeping busy with a superb project nearby. It’s a large terrain baptised “Le Clos” situated a kilometer away, that he is improving with a vineyard, a truffle plantation, blackcurrants, raspberries … and of course there are plenty of old stone walls to be renovated! If you are interested, Jean-Louis will be so happy to share his projects and passion with you.
After 15 years of rich experiences in Lithuania and in Normandy, Vincent seized the opportunity to return to Beaune and to join a family project that really makes sense to him, supported by Fabrizio and its 32 years of experience in the hotel and catering industry.
We love welcoming our guests, making sure they feel at home and sharing our love for Burgundy, the winemaker villages and the great wines. We feel very priviledged to meet guests from all over the world. Thanks to you, we have the opportunity to speak English and we feel we are traveling every day! We will introduce you to La Terre d’Or, show you around the gardens and our very unusual natural grotto. With my team, we are at your disposal to organise your daily tastings and visits and we would be really pleased to take you for a special vineyard tour.
My wife Jurga is a talented sculptor and I’m very proud of her!
She works part time at her workshop in Beaune where she makes her clay work and partly at Barthélémy Art Foundry in the south of France where her clays are turned into bronzes. She does most of the wax and patina work herself. She is not often here but her sculptures inhabits the gardens, the houses and the cave, so full of poetry and vitality that you could well expect to see them spring to life!
My grandfather Georges, who lived next door
My grandfather was an engineer who built his house himself, room by room, from the 1960s. At the age of 95, he surprises us everyday by his vitality. He likedpreparing his delicious chocolates for Christmas and Easter, making his excellent blackcurrant and telling good stories.
Gaspard is a ray of sunshine for all
17 year’s old, he adores jumping on the piano unexpectedly and playing his latest pieces to surprise you. He also likes very much: Wednesdays at Grandpa Jean-Louis and Grammy Christine, the circus school, the swimming pool, gardening, playing with cats, reading Harry Potter’s books…
